America isn’t the only one celebrating a milestone this year. In 2026, Whitley’s proudly marks our 40th Anniversary! That’s 40 years of family, tradition, and, of course, exceptional Virginia peanuts.
Recently, we gathered our team where it all began — at our Gloucester County, Virginia retail outlet store. Our story started in 1986 when current President and owner Todd Smith’s father and brother launched the business from this location with only three employees and a small batch roaster. |

And, just as Todd joined the family business in 1989, his son Brett now works alongside him, carrying forward the family legacy with the same passion and dedication to producing the finest Virginia peanuts available. As we celebrate four decades of growth and look ahead to the future, we remain deeply rooted in the family values, craftsmanship, and commitment to quality that have defined Whitley’s from the very beginning.

Please join us in welcoming the newest member of the Whitley's team, Marketing Specialist Cori Hailey. Originally from Fredericksburg, Virginia, Cori moved to Williamsburg three years ago and brings a strong background in marketing and audience engagement. Before joining Whitley's, she worked at William & Mary, where she oversaw marketing and box office operations for Theatre & Performance while mentoring students. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her friends, reading, and traveling. Cori is excited to explore new avenues and methods of marketing as she grows in her role at Whitley's.
